Activ City to Surf please support me.

Ok so I am totally not an active person but this year I am on board and I am doing something.

Being totally inspired by my freaking awesome mum who works for Activ I am doing the 12km fast walk, this Sunday. I am taking on thousands of other people, a possible thunderstorm and that freaking hill all on a Sunday morning. Why? Because I do actually care.

Now my mum has run all of the regional city to surfs this year and is running the hill as she’s also doing the Perth race and she’s doing it in like no time with a slightly injured leg and I am truthfully totally in awe. I’m also realistic. So instead of trying to do something that I know there is absolutely no chance in all hell of me doing, I’m taking on a realistic but hard challenge.

I’m not sure if any of you know the hill that we have to get ourselves up at ridiculous o’clock on a Sunday morning? Well, it’s pretty crazy. Truthfully – it’s not even a nice drive. But I’m going to walk it. And at a good pace too.

But wanting to take up a challenge isn’t the reason I’m doing this.  There is another reason that I’m doing this crazy early Sunday morning walk thing.

Activ is an organisation who works with people with disbailities. And they do a darn good job of it. The provide a lot of services to a lot of people and the people on the ground, doing the work, or volunteering make such a big difference to the people that they help and I’d like to do my bit to help them too. The volunteers alone gave over 42,000 hours to Activ last year and I can’t even begin to imagine the positive impact that will have had on the people with disabilities that Activ work with.

Activ provides jobs, support, a home, training, engagement, so many things to people and the City to Surf is just one way to support them and this year I’m lucky enough to be involved.

I’d really appreciate it if you could you support me by donating to my fundraising page. I’m looking to raise $500 and I haven’t got very long so anything you can give would be much appreciated.
