Fringe World surrounds: Where to go

Fringe World has descended on Perth and there are so many things to see and do. In and around the pop up venues that are Fringe, are some wonderful gem’s there are there for us all year round.
Here are some suggestions for where to eat and drink before or after a show, or if you’re taking a night off from your Fringe Binge.
Lot Twenty

This bar gives you some great wines, good cocktails and awesome food options.
The kitchen is open until 30 minutes before the venue shuts every night, which gives you a great late night food option.

The venue is split into four areas, the alfresco, the deck, inside and the restaurant and all are great spaces. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch Jerry Fraser shucking oysters on a Wednesday and a Friday.

198-206 William St., Perth WA 6000

Mechanics Institute

Outdoor decking, great cocktails, burgers from downstairs, hilarious bartenders and an impressive back bar. Mechanics is fantastic and it’s Sunday Bloody Mary’s are begging you to come down. Burgers, sunshine and crazily good cocktails. What more do you want?

REAR 222 William St, Northbridge

Ezra Pound

Ezra is one of those bars that makes you feel at home. With different spaces inside and a great outdoor space. From Simmer Down to getting food from No Mafia next door, Ezra is quickly reminding everyone of its status of one of the best bars in Perth.

The Bird

That beer garden, though. The Bird is pretty diverse venue (and doubles up as a performance space) and their outdoor area is to die for. They have recently added food to their wonderful menu making it an allround one stop shop.

Filled with hipsters, creatives and representatives from pretty much every other group of people, you will always feel comfortable in the sea of great drinks and questionable mustaches.

181 William St, Northbridge WA 6003

Dominion League

2am licence on the weekends. Need I say anymore?
The approval of extending trading comes with the extention of their kitchen hours too, meaning on a Fri(yay) and Saturday evenings, you can eat until 1am.

84 Beaufort St, Perth WA 6000
Closed Sunday/Monday

Indian food is my friend and Sauma is ready to be yours.
The starters and the naan are winners here, and their wine list is pretty good.
Book if you’re planning to go, but if you have to wait for a table, do it. It’s worth it.

200 William St, Northbridge WA 6003
closed Monday’s

Shadow Wine Bar

Cheese puffs. Tuna tartare. They bite size appretisers are to die for an make it easy nibble while you’re discussing the most recent show. Order all of the wine and eat lots of cheese.

Whether you’re having a drink, a four course meal or a canapes style dinner, Shadow is one you have to check out.

214 William Street, Perth WA 6003

Wok Street Chow House

Mama’s Pad Thai, chicken wings, prawn crackers, and cracking booze.
Filled with specials, Wok Street Chow House is a new late night(!!) addition to Northbridge and is a breath of fresh air.

Whether you’re sitting on the balcony, in the garden, in the restaurant on at the alfresco tables, you get a wonderful vibe and you always feel like your a part of something. The relatively new venue guarantees fresh food, banging flavours and upstanding service.

(and 3am close on the weekends. It’s like a dream come true.)
